The Contract-to-Cash Lifecycle
The Contract-to-Cash Lifecycle
The Contract-to-Cash (C2C) lifecycle in GAAPx is the automated operational pipeline that converts closed-won commercial agreements into structured customer accounts, billing schedules, tax calculations, payment clearing, and ASC 606 revenue subledgers. By establishing an AI-native subsidiary ledger on Revenue Cloud principles, GAAPx eliminates manual spreadsheet handoffs between Sales, RevOps, and Accounting.
The 6 Lifecycle Stages
1. Contract & Customer Ingestion
Commercial agreements enter GAAPx via CRM integrations (Salesforce CPQ, HubSpot), e-signature platforms (DocuSign, PandaDoc), cloud storage folders (Box AI, Google Drive), or direct email forwarding.
- Identity Resolution: GAAPx matches the signing entity against existing parent-child customer hierarchies.
- Clause Extraction: AI vision models parse non-standard commercial terms, payment milestones, CPI caps, SLA penalties, and termination-for-convenience clauses.

2. Product Catalog & Standalone Selling Price (SSP) Configuration
Line items are mapped to the central Product Catalog:
- Pricing models (flat recurring, tiered volume, consumption/usage) are attached.
- Standalone Selling Prices (SSP) are determined using observable transaction ranges or historical SSP bands to calculate relative carve-outs under ASC 606-10-32.
3. Billing Schedule Generation & Invoicing
GAAPx automatically builds deterministic billing schedules decoupled from revenue recognition timing:
- Advance vs. Arrears: Annual software licenses are queued for advance invoicing; metered usage is scheduled for monthly arrears.
- Tax Calculation: Automated sales tax determination via Avalara or Stripe Tax integrations.
- Delivery: Multi-channel distribution via automated PDF emails, customer billing portals, or direct AP Portal submission (Coupa, Tipalti).

4. Payments, Bank Feeds & Automated Cash Application
Settlement data flows into GAAPx from Stripe, Plaid bank feeds, and manual wire recordings:
- Automated Match: The cash application engine matches payments to open receivables using customer IDs, invoice numbers, and fuzzy amount matching.
- Unapplied Cash Queue: Discrepancies, partial payments, or unreferenced wires route to an exception workbench for 1-click settlement.
5. ASC 606 Revenue Subledger & Period Close
Independent of cash and billing, the Revenue Subledger executes daily/monthly revenue amortization:
- Performance obligations (POBs) recognize revenue based on transfer of control (over time vs. point-in-time).
- At month-end, the accounting team reviews the Deferred Revenue Rollforward, verifies subledger trial balances, and locks the accounting period.

6. General Ledger Sync & Reporting
Summarized or transaction-level journal entries post directly to your General Ledger (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct):
- Real-time AR Aging, 13-Week Cash Forecasts, and ARR Waterfalls provide unified operational and executive visibility.
